La Tenaglia
Serralunga di Crea
The wine-growing estate La Tenaglia is situated by nearly 450 metres above sea level in the rolling countryside of Monferrato at the edge of the national park Santuario di Crea that belongs to UNESCO world cultural heritage. Giorgio Tenaglia, governor of Moncalvo and mercenary captain with particular liking of Barbera, founded 1600 an „oasis of wine“ to relax before and after battles. While following centuries the vineyards have been cultivated up to 30 hectare today.
We find it especially important to cultivate native grapes like Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese, Barbera del Monferrato or Barbera d'Asti", explains Sabine Ehrmann, owner of the estate and daughter of the well-known German family of yoghurt producers. This way grow wines of high quality that enrich the market instead of flooding it.
Beside wine production La Tenaglia serves as an international meeting place of art and culture. Against the backdrop of the Italian awareness of life regular events take place that will intensify the dialogue between the nations and increase our love of life. Therefore it is worthwhile to look in on the gentle hills of Monferrato. You are welcome!
