Anastasia Sokolova

She was born in St. Petersburg (Russia) into a family of professional musicians. She began piano lessons at the age of six with Marina Polozova, also receiving composition classes from Jeanna Metallidi. Since 2008 she has been studying piano at the Special School of Music (College) of the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Professor Alexander Sandler. She has also participated in master-classes of Prof. M. Sogny (Switzerland) and of Prof. R. Plagge (Mozarteum, Salzburg/Austria).

Anastasia regularly appears at major music venues of St. Petersburg. As a soloist, she played Haydn's D Major Concerto and Mozart's A Major Concerto (K. 414) with the State Symphonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg at the St. Petersburg Grand Philharmonic Hall.

Since 2010 Anastasia plays concerts and solo recitals also abroad: in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Denmark.
She has been a First Prize winner of many international competitions, including the ‘Open Competition for Young Pianists in St. Petersburg’ (2005), the ‘Rubinstein’ Competition in St.Petersburg (2010) and the International F. Chopin Competition in Estonia (2008), where Anastasia also received the EMCY Prize. In 2011 Anastasia won the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the “Bang & Olufsen PianoRAMA-Competition” in Aarhus (Denmark).
Anastasia was the winner of the Special ‘Young Talent’ Prize of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and was also awarded a Special Prize by the St. Petersburg City Government.
